Attic Conversion Price Survey 2019

Tradesmen.ie Attic Conversion Cost Survey 2019
Hi folks,
recently we carried out a survey on attic conversion prices with some of our tradesmen across Ireland. The question we asked was the same as the one we asked in a similar survey in 2017, so it was interesting to compare the results. The question we asked was as follows:- How much would it cost, excluding vat, to add an extra bedroom in the attic and were there any tips they could give for getting the best job done. Here is a sample of the replies we received below:-

Much Ado about Books: Home Library Inspiration

There was much consternation recently when people believed that Marie Kondo had suggested that people should only keep a maximum of thirty books in their homes. People rebelled against this notion by the ‘Declutter Queen’, jokingly asking if she meant ’30 books per subject?’, ’30 books per shelf?’, ’30 books in the “to be read” pile?’, or ’30 books on the bedside table?’. As it happens, Kondo had simply said that she limits her books to thirty and it works for her but it’s clear that books are precious to so many people.

With that in mind, how many of us have home libraries? How many of us have bookshelves in every room? If you are thinking of building an extension which will include a home study / library, or you’re planning on changing the use of another room (perhaps a seldom used dining room or a spare bedroom) to a home library, here are some inspirational ideas for you to consider.

7 Stylish Spiral Staircases

A spiral stairs can fit into a small space, ideal for accessing an office or guest room upstairs.

How to Decorate Ceilings: the fifth wall in each room

Ceilings are usually very plain. Painted white or off-white, they are the plainest feature of most rooms. However, they can provide an understated wow factor. For rooms where you are lying down and actually looking up at the ceiling, be it bedrooms (or perhaps living rooms if you like to lie horizontally on the sofa or in a recliner), bathrooms or in a massage / therapy room, an interesting ceiling can bring joy as well. Think of the ceiling as the fifth wall in the room – and it also requires creative decorating.

Wallpaper Trends for 2019

I love wallpaper and I’m delighted to see that not only is it still fashionable for 2019 but there is a return to having wallpaper on all four walls, rather than just a statement wall in a room. Yes, wallpaper can be expensive but it warms up a room, wallpaper gives it depth and interest, and it adds a touch of luxury. I wouldn’t put wallpaper on a high traffic area of my home but I do find that a wallpapered room needs to be redecorated less often than walls that are painted.

Here are my top five wallpaper trends for 2019.
