Garden Decking Price Survey

Hi folks,
recently we carried out a garden decking price survey.   There’s some nice weather forecast for the coming days. Hopefully we’ll have some nice weather this Summer and with the fine weather it could be a good time to look at some home improvements to your garden. Garden decking is always a popular job so we asked some tradesmen on our website to give us some tips for installing decking and the prices involved.  Here are some replies we got below:-

Darren from Kerry: There’s a massive difference in decking from natural timber(regular timber)to the most expensive composite..concrete base is best and a galvanised batton base is best with white river composite or sapelle natural timber! €100m2 to €200m2

Brendan from Westmeath:  Price would depend on site preparation and decking material.. the wood decking sold by most hardwares are of poor quality..so i generally use a doughlas fir wood i get specially cut by a sawmills…so as a guideline price i would say €75 per msq”

Colman from Offaly: The 2 most recent patios I done were completely different. The first in knocklyon was a straight forward flat 9m x 6m large rectangular patio ( 54m2) with no designs which took 35 hours to complete at €800. in my estimate i had allowed for €850. this gives a cost of €14.80 per m2. The next was in kilternan which had an area of 26m2 with 2 steps and angled ends and 2 diamond shaped designs which was not straight forward and took 30 hours to complete at €750 for labour. this was originally what i estimated and worked out at €28.85 per m2.

———–

I hope this helps some of you who are interested in putting garden decking in your garden and hopefully it has given you some ideas as well.  If you do decide to go ahead with your garden decking job you can get a number of quotes from rated tradesmen by posting your job in our garden/landscaping section here

At Tradesmen.ie, we are continuing to provide our service within the restrictions that apply.  Please feel free to look for quotes but only work that complies with the government guidelines should be carried out until these restrictions are lifted.

As I write this, outdoor work is allowed with the phase 1 easing of restrictions.  However, this policy could change in the future so please keep up to date with news from the Government and the HSE at www.gov.ie and  www.hse.ie.

If you have any other comments or suggestions please feel free to comment below

Cheers
