Carpenters provide a variety of services such as constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. Carpenters are involved in many different kinds of construction, from formwork on large scale construction jobs to residential house building and renovation.  On the residential side of things, carpenters frame walls and partitions, put in floors, doors and windows, build stairs, construct and/or put together cabinets and furniture.

Recently we carried out a price survey with carpenters on our website. We asked them to let us know what a typical price per hour or per day would be and if they had any tips for the customer on having a good experience with the tradesman. Here are a sample of the replies we received below:-

Lately we did a survey of plumbing charges with some plumbers on our website.  We asked them to let us know what a typical call out fee would be and the price per hour thereafter.  We also asked if they had any tips for customers on having a good experience with the tradesman and their job.  Here are some of the replies below:-

House Extension Cost Survey 2021

House Extension Cost Survey 2021

Adding an extension to your home is a great way to add extra space where your existing home no longer big enough for your needs.  There are many reasons why you might like to add an extension to your home.  These include extending your kitchen, adding an extra living or dining area, adding an extra bedroom, adding an office or adding a play area to name a few.   If well planned with the help of an architect, adding an extension can also be a good opportunity to let more light into your home, improve the energy rating and reduce your heating bill.

Recently we did a House Extension Cost Survey with some of our tradesmen. The question was how much would it cost to build an average 40m2 single story rear extension excluding VAT with apex roof finished to a good standard and ready to furnish? I have attached a sample of the replies we received below with some tips provided by the tradesmen:-

Low Maintenance Garden Cost Survey 2021

Low maintenance garden price survey

Hi folks,

there are lots of advantages of having a nice garden for your home. The physical activity required to maintain a garden is good for your body and for your health.  Spending time in the garden is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety so it is good for the mind as well.  Encouraging kids to spend time outdoors in the garden is good for their health as well and will lead to better sleep and better performance in school.  Growing vegetables in the garden will result in you and your family eating healthier food.  You can create family time together with your kids by planning, sowing, and tending to the family garden resulting in physical activity with a purpose shared by everyone.

On the other hand you can get someone else to do it for you and just sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labour:-)  A while ago we carried out a survey with some Garden contractors on Tradesmen.ie.   We asked them how much it would cost ex vat to design and implement a low maintenance garden for an average home. We also asked had they any tips for the customer on having a good experience with the tradesman.  Here is a selection of replies that we received below:-
