Laois company, Tradesmen.ie, was announced as the winners of the O2 Ideas Room Sales Pitch competition on Tuesday, 27th of July.
The O2 Idea’s Room ran a competition where they asked Irish companies to pitch their business idea in 140 characters or less via Twitter, SMS or on the O2 Idea’s Room Blog. Six finalists were chosen and people could then vote for their favorite business to win the grand prize of €50,000 worth of business support.
Oliver Dempsey, founder of Tradesmen.ie, entered the pitch “Want to save time and money on tradesmen and trade professional services? Get up to 4 quotes and compare prices on www.Tradesmen.ie”.
Fortunately for the Laois company, they were announced as winners as they gained the most amount of votes for their sales pitch. For those who are unfamiliar with the business, Tradesmen.ie is a free Irish online service that helps you to find tradesmen and get a number of quotes for your job. All you need to do is to fill in a simple form which asks you to describe the type of job you need to do and what type of tradesman you are looking for. They locate and inform tradesmen in your area who are available and who are willing to quote for the job. The tradesmen are then asked to contact you and organise to give you a quote.
The Ballybrittas or more specifically Jamestown based company have been operating successfully for a number of years now and are hoping to build on the success of their recent victory in the O2 competition. During the campaign, Tradesmen.ie made use of online social media’s such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. They constantly updated fans of their progress on their Facebook page and made regular updates. As well as this, they also produced many videos to market their campaign on their Youtube channel Tradesmen1. These videos were made to reach out to people with the hope that each video would spread online and help create more votes for them. What was unique about these videos was that each of them was made with a good sense of humor as the company believed it was best to have fun and enjoy the opportunity of having the chance to win such a competition. Fortunately, it proved to be a major success and one of their videos with Daisy the cow has to this date over 4,100 views. Quite a success story for a small business which now has the chance grow bigger and help benefit customers, tradesmen and the Irish economy. Congratulations to Tradesmen.ie
